SWGA RESA SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT

Southwest GA RESA School Improvement Specialists work in collaboration with GaDOE School and District Effectiveness Division, to provide a system of supports and processes for school improvement for schools and districts in southwest Georgia. The primary focus for SWGA RESA SIS is on schools that have been identified as needing comprehensive or targeted support and improvement. These schools may be defined as follows:

  • Comprehensive Support (CSI) — the lowest performing 5% of Title I schools in the state when ranked based on their 3-year CCRPI average

  • Comprehensive Support (CSI) Graduation Rate — High schools (Title I or non-Title I) with a 4-year adjusted cohort graduation rate less than or equal to 67%

  • Promise Schools — the 5% to 10% lowest performing Title I schools in the state when ranked based on their 3-year CCRPI average

  • Targeted Support (TSI) Consistently Underperforming Subgroup — all schools that have at least 1 subgroup that is performing in the lowest 5% of all schools in at least 50% of CCRPI components

  • Targeted Support (TSI) Additional Targeted Support — among all schools identified for Consistently Underperforming Subgroup, have at least 1 subgroup that is performing in the lowest 5% of all schools in CCRPI components

Supports for the federally identified schools (CSI schools receive priority) include:

  • Providing identified professional learning, working in partnership with GaDOE School Effectiveness Specialists as part of the Continuous Improvement Team (CIT)

  • Providing on-site coaching and support, supporting Collaborative Planning Teams and Leadership Teams, and providing school walkthroughs/on-site reviews along with GaDOE SDE personnel.
