SWGA RESA SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT

The Southwest GA RESA School Improvement Team works in collaboration with GaDOE School and District Improvement Division, to provide a system of supports and processes for school improvement for schools and districts in southwest Georgia. The primary focus for the SWGA RESA SI Team is on schools that have been identified as needing comprehensive or targeted support and improvement. These schools may be identified as follows:

  • Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI)

Identifies 1) the lowest performing 5% of all Title I schools; 2) all high schools with a graduation rate ≤ 67%; and 3) all schools identified for ATSI for the same student group(s) for six years. CSI schools are identified every three years.

  • Target Support and Improvement (TSI)

Identifies any school with one or more consistently underperforming student groups. TSI schools are identified annually.

  • Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI)

Among schools meeting the TSI criteria, identifies any school in which any student group, on its own, would be identified as a CSI school. ATSI schools are identified every three years.

SWGA RESA SI Team support is prioritized for federally identified schools within the region (CSI and Tier IV-CSI receive priority). Support for other schools in the region are available upon request and staff availability. Supports may include:

    • Providing identified professional learning and instructional coaching support

    • Providing on-site coaching and support for Collaborative Planning Teams and Leadership Teams

    • Providing support for Comprehensive Needs Assessments and School Improvement Plan Development
